There are a ton of online or digital magazine publishing tools and softwares available. Joomag.com is one of them and we wanted to know how it works so their live chat was more than helpful in answering some questions. Out of all the services and websites available, the live chat on Joomag was very fast, friendly and helpful.
For the record, this guy is a serious all-star. He answered more questions that are not here that were thrown at him and he had an answer for everything without having to say I'll get back to you because I don't know. While answering questions we found many sites that have switched from ISSUU to Joomag so that says quite a bit on it's own.
Hi, if I create a magazine in joommag, will the magazine itself be searchable in newsstand including the articles?
It's *** to assist.
Thanks for contacting.
Yes, the magazines created on Joomag will be searchable in Newsstand.
Btw, they are searchable by their title and the keywords you flag them even after uploading PDFs.
With the software for creating a magazine/layout with Joomag, can this be exported as it's own PDF?
Yes, you can surely export the PDF of your magazines.
We provide online editor for creating publications. And it's fully available with all the plans.
Also what are the means I'd be sharing the digital magazine with my users? Do I embed this magazine on my website where I can create custom URLs for each subscription or is this more a joomag link like this one:
One option would be to share the link of the publication directly with your readers/users.
Or you can embed the magazine on your website as it is done here: http://newstyle.mu/portfolio/issue-no-3/
In case you're interested you can also customize the URL of the publication by linking it to your own domain name and this is what would appear instead of the random Joomag URL: http://www.milli-on-air.com/
How do you like these?
could I put the generic magazine on my own url like domain.com/my-new-magazine and this would update with the latest versions for example?
Once you link your magazine to your domain name and share it with your users, they will see the latest published magazine when they open your domain name.
Please note that the magazine should be linked to either domain or sub-domain.
and sub folder wouldn't work?
No, since the system needs to have the IP address of the domain the magazine will be linked to.
Subfolders don't have their specific IP addresses.
Hope this helps.
What are the best examples or showcases of the best magazines you have in terms of design and do many users provide their own designs and upload by PDF?
our Newsstand is the perfect place to look for the best magazines published through Joomag -https://newsstand.joomag.com/en
I would highlight these for instance:
As to designing in Joomag vs. uploading PDFs, it really depends on the history of the publisher.
Some of them might upload PDFs and enhance them with interactivity on Joomag.
Some of them just create from scratch or use our templates.
Do you know if any publishers use Sketch app for creating their magazine? Also do you find the templates a better means of creating a magazine for better compatibility with mobile users?
The majority of publishers use Adobe programs.
Sketch app is not familiar to me to be honest.
As to using templates, I can assure you that all of them are mobile compatible.
And you can customize them further for mobile too.
Do you have examples of a template that looks as good on mobile? I'm looking at The Gentleman Magazine and the design seems like it was uploaded as a PDF so wonder if you have a template where the content is more responsive on mobile
Sure, here is an example from a test account: https://view.joomag.com/templates/0934795001506632155
how does it work if anybody wanted to a print version of a magazine, is this optional with the user and Joomag handles the payments and logistics or is this the responsibility of the publisher?
Joomag takes care of the hard copy ordering all by itself.
Reader only needs to make the order and we will print and deliver it within 15 business days.
