Geolify: Is it Worth Your Time?
by James Inovejas
One of the most important things to consider when setting up an affiliate marketing campaign is analytics. A lot of people might frown upon it but it’s actually helpful in determining a lot of things in a campaign. In fact, a lot of affiliate programs boast of how good and reliable their analytics and reporting platforms are. While they often deliver on what they promise, there programs’ linking and analytics/reporting platforms still lack a couple of important features that can only be found on a Geo Targeting SaaS like like Geolify.
What does Geolify do?
Geolify (geolify.com) is an SaaS (Software as a Service) platform that aims to increase an affiliate marketer’s conversions by ensuring that their prospective referrals click and go through the right links. Why is this important? Let’s say you’re marketing something from the Amazon US Store. You’ve included the link to the product to your site/mailer and a prospective buyer clicks on it. The problem though is that the buyer is from outside of the US. You’re essentially robbed of a possible commission once the buyer sees that the product/service is only available for shipping/use within the United States and goes to look for that product elsewhere.
How Geolify works
The Geolify service addresses this issue using Geo links. This allows you to customize your affiliate links in a way that allows you to specific target locations/countries. With this, you can get affiliate links of a product from multiple Amazon Stores (US, UK, or Japan) to work on only one link. So if the prospective buyer who clicks on the link is from the UK, then instead of going to the Amazon US Store, he’ll be redirected automatically to the Amazon UK store.
More than link redirects
It’s not just affiliate sites and links that can be geo-targeted using the Geolify service though. Affiliate marketers can also use the service to customize geo-targeted content, images, popups, javascript, and even blocks. If you don’t want users from a certain region or location to access your website, you can use the service to block or redirect them to another page. Want to show visitors to your site content/images that’s relevant to their location? This service can do that as well.
Pricing
While it is true that you’ll need to pay to make the most of all of Geolify’s features, you can still use it for free (although with certain limitations). For free users of the service, you’re allowed access to features such as Geo redirects, Geo Links, Geo Popups, Geo Bars, and Geo Blocks. If you want make use of Geo content, Geo Images, and Geo Javascript then you’ll need to pay a minimum of $5 for 1000 page views to a maximum of $500 for 5 million page views.
The pricing might seem like a lot but it’s actually very flexible. Since it’s not a subscription, you don’t have to worry about paying $5 monthly for 100 out of 1000 page views. And while you can use the service on all websites regardless if you went for Pre Paid or Free options, going Pre Paid will let you take out Geolify branding (ususally 5 second delay pages) on your redirects.
Is Geolify worth using?
Regardless if you’re an affiliate marketer or a webmaster, the Geolify SaaS is one of the best and most efficient means of making your website/affiliate site’s content more appropriate for your intended audience. Yes, you need to shell out if you want all the bells and whistles that the service provides. However, going the free route is also viable especially if you’re still undecided about the service. Of course, you can also develop a geo redirect solution on your own but while that option is for free, it also requires knowledge of javascript. If you’re pressed for time and can’t be bothered then there’s really no better service to use than Geolify. Still not convinced? Make sure that you check out their official site to know more about the service!
